BSAC Diver training
Training to become a diver starts with the Ocean Diver course. This involves 5 pool lessons, 7 one hour lectures, 2 days of open water training in a lake and a weekend of sea diving from a boat. This qualification permits you to dive to a depth of 20m (67 feet). The training prepares you for diving in British waters. See the "Costs" page for the price of this course.
After fifteen dives or so you will then be ready to embark on Sports Diver training which increases your depth range to 35m including the use of decompression diving and Nitrox gas mixes. Once fully experienced, Dive Leader training can then commence.

Cross-over training
We welcome pre-trained divers from other agencies such as PADI. BSAC have devised a table of cross-over equivalents which you can consult to see the options available to you when you join our branch (see www.bsac.com/core/core_picker/download.asp?id=10131 ).
