December 2nd 2023 A very enjoyable evening at the Willow Tree Farm Cafe for the club Christmas 'Do', including the annual awards ceremony (see News). Thanks to everyone who played a part in putting this event together.

February 2023 Dry Night Tim and John presented a history of the club.

Christmas Meal 2022:  Our annual dinner was held at The Mill Hotel. A good night was had by all and congratulations go to Dave Gowler for being awarded Diver of the Year!

Archery October 2022:  Good fun was had at the White Dragon Activity Centre near Bures, where many members showed their talent (or lack of) with a bow and arrows. Thanks to the staff at White Dragon for an enjoyable night - we will be back!

2022 Dry Nights: So far have included a barbecue, a swim/snorkel in the Stour, a pizza and video evening, pub visits and indoor climbing.

Christmas Do 2021:  This year's Christmas meal and awards evening was held at the Mill Hotel in Sudbury. A good time was had by all, thanks to the staff at the Mill, but also to Mary for her quiz and awards speech, plus the raffle organised by Jane and Tina. Thanks too to those who donated raffle prizes and to Jane for organising the event itself. You can see some of the photos from the evening here.

August 2021 Dry Night: Thanks very much to Julian and Charmain for hosting a great barbecue for the club.

March 2020 Dry Night: Nethergate Brewery tour was a great success.

 

February 2020 Dry Night: A nice evening had at Wetherspoons for a pint and a chat.

January 2020 Dry Night: A kit care and maintenance, plus used kit sale, was held at The Hare in Long Melford. A good turnout to share some very useful hints and tips and an opportunity to buy and sell kit. A summary of the information given by Graham and John can be seen here.

December 2019 Dry Night: The last dry night of the year was a very relaxed get-together in Weatherspoons in Sudbury.

Christmas Meal 2019: Many thanks to Jane for organising the Christmas meal at The George in Cavendish. Good meal and good company, with awards given by the outgoing chairman, Luke! 

October 2019 Dry Night - Quiz at the Hare Inn: Another quiz compiled and presented via video by Ryan drew a good crowd. Winners were John, Rosie and Malcolm!

August 2019 Dry Night - Snorkel at Melford Country Park: A fantastic turnout for a fun evening's snorkelling in the Stour near Melford Country Park

May 2019 Dry Night - Archery: Some new skills were learnt by a group of members at White Dragon Archery in Bures. A good night and some good shooting! Click here for photos.

March 2019 -Quiz at The Hare, Long Melford: Fun night with questions by Ryan, presented via video! Congratulations to Graham and Mary for a runaway victory.

Christmas Dinner 2018: A very enjoyable meal, plus entertaining speeches and awards from Graham P, Luke S and John D at The Mill Hotel, Sudbury.

September 2018 Dry Night - Long Melford Curry: A good night was had at The Melford Valley Indian restaurant, 

August 2018 Dry Night - Stour Snorkel:  Some of our keenest members met at Friars Meadows for a pleasant evening's snorkel in the Stour. 

July 2018 Dry Night - Boat Trip to Henny Swan: 12 members enjoyed a fabulous evening aboard The Edwardian Lady as she cruised down The Stour to The Henny Swan and back.  Superb views and a very relaxed hour in the pub garden.

June 2018 Dry Night - Brewery Tour: Twelve club members had an entertaining evening at Mouldons Brewery on 6th June. Mouldons owner Steve Sims gave an interesting talk about the history of the company and showed an obvious passion for the traditional brewing methods. An overview of the equipment and process followed, all helped along by generous helpings of delicious ale!

May 2018 Dry Night - Sports Evening: A fun evening at the Great Cornard Sports Centre was had on May 2nd. Good to see so many members turn up and with expert tuition from Julian and Steve (thanks both), some impressive climbing by old and young! A selection of photos below:

April 2018 Dry Night - O2 Refresher: Thanks to those members who made it to The Hare, Long Melford, to practice oxygen administration and resuscitation skills.

Christmas 2017 Meal: This year's Christmas do was held at The Mill Hotel, Sudbury on 2nd December. Nice meal, good company and great entertainment by the comedy duo of Dive Officer Graham and Chairman Luke, as they presented awards to several club members. These were as follows:

The Eyemouth Rapid Ascent Award! - Tim 'Torpedo' Boyes

Inverted Diver of the Year! - Jane Bertram

Diver of the Year - Richard Hammond

Most dives in one location! - Julian & Harry Stiff

Shallowest Dive of the Year! - Julia, Justin & Richard (3.4m at the annual Stour summer dive)

Silver spoon special award (for completing every dive at Swanage without telling Rosie!) - John Davis

Congratulations to Richard Hammond, presented with the only serious award of the evening - Diver of the Year.

Luke Mynott was also recognised for all the great work and support he has put into the club over many years. 'Maldivian Dual Nationality' certificates were also presented to the Stiff family!

Thanks very much to Jane for organising the evening.

 June 2017 Dry Night: Excellent turnout at the Waggon and Horses in Sudbury for a nice meal and lots of chat

A Question of Sports Diver: A diving-based quiz was held on March's Dry Night meeting at The Hare, Long Melford and went down really well. 'Feel the diver' was great fun and no one got arrested! Thanks to Bec for preparing the stuff for this event, in spite of running a virtual hospital from home!

February 2017 Dry Night Bowling: Fun night at Strikes with some impressive skills on display, especially Ryan's 'Travolta' method and Tina's zig-zag technique off the side bumpers! Rounded off by a pint at the Wagon. 

Winter Warmer Wednesday: December 2016's Dry Night meeting was held at Julian's house, for some excellent chilli and Thai chicken. Thanks to Julian and Charmaine for an enjoyable night!

Christmas Meal 2016:  Scutchers Restaurant in Long Melford proved a great venue on 2nd December for the club Christmas Meal. In addition to good food and company, chairman Luke handed out some well deserved (and some not so well deserved!) awards. See photos from the night on Facebook and here.

Club BBQ on 20th August 2016: Thanks very much to Pat and Barry for hosting a great club barbeque at their home. We nearly got blown away but everyone enjoyed themselves. Sorry to those who couldn't find the venue!

Bowling - 3rd August 2016 : The August dry night was held at Strikes Bowling Alley in Sudbury. Some good skills on display (Luke M had been in training) and some of the scores even got into double figures :)

Club Night at the Waggon & Horses 6th July 2016: An excellent turnout for alfresco drinks and chat about past adventures! Thanks to members old and new for an enjoyable evening.
