Swanage 19th-21st May 2017

Travel & Accommodation:

  • Travelling to Swanage is approx. 200 miles. We normally car share where possible to reduce costs, not just to get there but parking in the town. Please take into consideration equipment requirements.

  •  I have checked some accommodation prices, as follows, this is for three nights, Fri, Sat, Sunday.

  • We book the Sunday night as you will need to checkout of the caravan at 10:00 Sunday morning if not, also lets you wash and leave later to miss some of the traffic home.

  • Self catering Static caravan sleeps 6, 2 bedrooms, if shared, cost is approx. £60/person.

  • There are some caravans that sleep up to 8, 3 bedrooms, obviously cost/person increases if not full.

  • Touring caravans, I can only get last years tariffs but should be somewhere about £30/night, please arrange these yourself

  • There are some houses available in the town, these vary quite a lot in price, so would need specific instructions or book these yourself

  • The quantity of caravans/dwellings is dependant on peoples requirements, own occupancy, Family, sharing etc.

Diving:

  • If picking dive sites (2/day) on the boat, the cost is about £50/day

  • Again dependent on how many divers want to boat dive, boat takes 12.

  • I’m assuming air fills are about standard so not more than £5/fill

  • There is a dive shop on the pier.

Parking:

  • Most of the diving is done from the pier, so parking on the pier is best, this will mean an early start to get a place as spaces are limited, there is an overflow car park set up the hill behind, not good for lugging gear.

  • Last known prices for parking was £6/day + £2.50 to dive for the pier.

  • The caravan sites have parking for maximum of 2 cars/caravan, there is additional parking at the entrance, last we looked.

Dining:

  • Swanage has the usual suspects regards to food, Chinese, Indian, fish and chips, Pub etc. Each caravan has a usable kitchen.

Other:

  • Swanage/Dorset coast  has many other thing to offer;- Steam trains, monuments, clifftop coastal walks, landscape views, fossil hunting, tank museum, Monkey World, freshly made fudge! To mention a few.
